All passengers on board the vehicle however escaped unhurt according to a report by Kumasi-based Angel FM
The Yutong bus with registration number GT 5333-20 was traveling from Takoradi to Kumasi when the incident occurred at Kyekyewere a community in the Assin South in the Central Region.
According to accounts by the driver and passengers who were on board the bus, they sniffed the scent of smoke and suspected it was coming from the bus.
The driver then stopped and asked passengers on board to come down and allow him to examine what was amiss.

Moments after the driver pulled out his fire extinguisher to quench the, the bus exploded into flame and subsequently burnt into ashes.
Speaking to the media after their narrow escape, some passengers tanked the driver for saving their lives by stopping and asking them to evacuate.
Thanks to the driver for telling us to get out. Had it not been his decision to let us get down from the bus we would have been affected by the fire”, some passengers who spoke to Angel FM’s reporter said.
